The Royal Society of British Artists was established in 1823, whose notable members include John Noble Barlow and Etsella Canziani. In addition, to the rear of the volume, this work includes as complete list of works exhibited at The New English Art Club from 1888 to 1917. The New English Art Club was founded in 1885 as an alternative to venue to the Royal Academy, and was known to feature a larger selection of Impressionist works that its peers.
